I've newly converted to UL backpacking and one of the nagging pieces of equipment that I both refuse to do without but is way too heavy is my thermolite mummy bag liner. It ways in at a whopping 8.1 ounces! This is a serious blow to pack weight but my budget and time allowance does not allow for constant replacement and/or cleaning of my Mtn Hardwear Phantom down mummy. An ideas? Anyone tried making their own out of a lighter fabric? Cotton and silks liners tend to be a couple oz's heavier.

If your purpose is to protect your bag try the lightest synthetic long underwear you can find. (Not silk. It holds a LOT of moisture & is difficult to dry quickly.)

With this setup you can use the longies as estra clothing & still keep your bag clean.

I consider a light weight wind suit a better multipurpose item than a bag liner (one purpose).
