I haven't any experience with the two shoes that you mention, but have used two others: the Targhee and the Humbolt. The former is Event lined, so it's relegated to winter use and the latter is one of my favorite trail runners. It's more like a mesh sock on a very thick, shock absorbing foot bed. At first I didn't like them as they seemed designed for wide feet and they have a pronounced inward, banana-like curve. My feet seem to point straight ahead, so my toes would jam on the outward edge of the toe box. This problem was resolved after I swaped out the insoles for superfeet which prevented pronation. After that I found I could wear them with comfort, and I do mean comfort. Happy trails.
