I'm am still looking for a UL parka or jacket that will come down far enough to keep out the drafts. I got some good advice to check out the men's jackets, many thanks to the gals here.

So now I'm checking the men's jackets but I find that I can't tell much from photos. Most don't give the length of the jacket (measurement from armpit to hem), tho they often give sleeve length.

I'm looking for a jacket that can help keep me warm to about 30 degrees at night as I'll be in the high Sierras in early September. My past experience is that there are often light frosts at night so I'm looking for a jacket that will be warm to 30 degrees and that will at least reach part way down past my hips.

Right now I am considering the Montbell UL Inner Down Parka or jacket or possibly the Light Alpine. I like the fact that it has a hood though I don't know how insulated or useful its hood is. I'm also looking at the WM Flight jacket, but it does not look as long as the Montbell.

I'll have a turtle neck long sleave smartwool shirt and a UL rainjacket of some sort with me that I can wear over the jacket to keep the heat up sitting around at night if I need that too, tho I am not crazy about wearing rain gear over down.

The length is really of major importance to me. I'm a side sleeper so my hips tend to get cold at night. A longer down jacket, either worn or layered over me can make a big difference at night too as my bag is also UL.

Thanks for any advice on this.

For these temps you might consider the Jacks R Better No Sniveller quilt that converts into a very long down parka…

I know that New Balance has some fairly light down jackets that are longer than most others.

You can add to the length of the Nunatak Skaha if you so desire, they will make one to whatever length you want.
