I like to take olive oil on my hiking trips. I usually add .5 or 1 oz to my freezer-bag dinner. At 250 cal/oz it is hard to beat. Also, it makes the meal taste richer.

Most recently I have used a 4oz Nalgene bottle to carry it. But I just saw a .5oz single serving pouch. Imagine a McDonald's ketchup pouch… but with olive oil inside.

Anyone know of a source where I can purchase some of these single-servings?

Thanks.

Olive oil powder ? Good grief
Depending on the duration of the trip I use a 2/4/8 oz version of those white Nalgene screw top bottles. I am trying to minimize the amount of packaging I take, so I prefer an empty 1/2oz container to extra bits of foil.
I use oil with soup at lunch and with most meals at dinner. Also with hot chocolate before going to sleep when it's cold.

The pouches sound convenient although, I think the cost vs. buying it in bulk is probably high.

I use the little bottles that are sold on this site and fill them before a trip. You just have to make sure to label them well so you don't douce your salad with sunscreen! :-)

I'd agree with the cost issue – buying a large container of olive oil and filling a small vial would be more cost effective, plus at least I would not want to have to deal with the garbage it would create and the possibility of one leaking oil in my pack.

The olive oil pouches that Minimus carries are the best on the market. I have carried them many times and yet to have a blower.
In most cases I carry a hard Lexan 4 ounce bottle – but even that is carried in a bag to prevent oil leaks.

Minimus is a great company to deal with – they ship fast and one cannot beat the buy $20 and get free shipping deal.
