BPL mini dropper bottles

I don't know if this would work particularly well, but it would be lighter and safer. If your glasses frames are fairly standard and you can pop your lenses in and out easily, you could just carry a spare set of lenses. That way if your glasses get broken you can just replace the lenses with your spare set. A set of lenses is much easier to protect and pack than a pair of glasses.

Just an idea.

Thanks for your comments on the glasses case. You focused in on 1.6 oz that I could easily cut, and let me know. I do agree that modern glasses are actually pretty tough and bubble wrap would be fine (the lenses would defintitely be fine, I was just worried about the frames getting mangled). So, this has made me reconsider –again– all the other cases and bags and packaging I might get rid of as well. :)

My only caveat is the convenience factor–the glasses really aren't spares but something I use every day (I prefer to take out my contacts soon after getting to camp, when it's still light out), so the fiddle-factor of rubber bands and bubble wrap is something I'm still thinking about.
