Pack Cover – Help!

Made mine like a giant shower cap using the materials suggested by Roger. No seams except around the edge, just a giant fabric rectangle with rounded corners. Sew a casing around the edge and thread the bungee cord through and cinch it up.

Yeah, use the smallest diameter bungee/elastic cord and mini cord locks. I also use mine to hang the food. Works good for that, as you can really spread it open on the ground to see all the food at meal time.

Randall, I have never used a pack cover but your post makes me consider it.

Hey Guys:

New to the site. I'm curious, why would you prefer a pack cover to a water proof liner sack? Just from my little experience, a liner sack works much better, and can give more strength/shape to a lighter-weight pack bag. Unless you are also using it for abrasion resistance when bush-wacking, I don't see why you would use one?

One reason I'd prefer a cover is the material of my pack. Unless you have some water-repelling-like-material, the pack could absorb some of the water thus making it heavier. Just my experience
