Looking for suggestions for a loop within a short driving distance of Missoula in mid-October. I have a conference in Missoula and would like to follow it up with a Friday to Monday trip with alot of time spent above treeline. Any suggestions for a nice loop trip taking in some of the CDT in that part of the state with hopefully a few technical ridges or scrambling/easy climbing peaks. What can I expect in terms of temperatures. Are bears are big issue in October? Any advice most welcomed by this new member.

Dates Oct. 10-13
Here are some loops that I have researched a bit. Not sure how many of these will still be suitable for a mid october trip. I am a fairly fast hiker but will be coming from sea level with four days pre-hike in Missoula to acclimate. If anyone has any recommnedations, advice or comments I would be most grateful.

Here are my current options:

Annaconda-Pintler Wilderness 25.5 mile loop
Blue Joint 29 mile loop
Great Burn Loop 30 mile

I've been to the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness for a backpack before, that was a beautiful area that won't disappoint
