This seems like an ideal light tarp for not too much money:

My only concern is that the curves seem to be rather exaggerated so that when pitched as shown with a ridge and edges to the ground, the ridge is high and may not provide as much protection as a flat tarp or catenary tarp. The windbreak configuration looks good though.
I do not have one, but I studied it a bunch, and even folded up another tarp into that size/shape of the E-wing so that I could play around with it. I had the same concerns as you. I ultimately found it too small for my liking (ridgeline in A-frame mode is only 7.5' long), but I really like the shape. I am in the process of making a longer version of the same shape right now.
I agree that it may not have enough coverage. BTW, i'm not 100% sure about this since i don't have much experience with catenary tarps, but it seems like they're optimized to be pitched at a certain angle. If it's pitched steeper or flatter than optimal, do you get loose material?
I have been yearning for an Oware Cattarp 1.5 lately, but we will see how my current project comes out. I call mine the G-wing (two sizes longer than the E-wing!).
Not sure about the loose material issue, but I am betting that even a tarp with a catenary ridgeline is more forgiving than one might imagine. Nylon is pretty stretchy and forgiving. Not so easy with cuben I am thinking.
I would like to know if BPL has any plans to bring back their cat tarps anytime soon.
