Does anyone have any information/advice about getting a shuttle/ride on 07/31/2008 from Lone Pine at 0Dark:30 in order to make the the YARTS shuttle in Mammoth at 0700. I am happy to pay for gas and a little something for the effort.
Thanks,
JimJun 11, 2008 at 4:01 pm #1437866There isn't much available. Did you check into the Inyo County transportation website? The Crest bus leaves Lone Pine at 2:50 PM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, arriving in Mammoth 2 hours later. You would have to spend the night in Mammoth to catch YARTS.
http://www.inyocounty.us/transit/CRESTpage.htmI face the same issue on Saturday 8/9, needing to be in Mammoth the next day. At this point my plan is to arrive at Whitney Portal early afternoon and accost every hiker coming off the trail to see if I can catch a ride headed North. If that doesn't pan out I'll drive up to Mammoth and leave my car there, then deal with getting back to it after my hike.

Long BeachJun 17, 2008 at 8:48 pm #1438839Thanks James from Long Beach,
I just took a look at the CREST link you had noted and that saves me a big headache getting to Lone Pine from Mammoth Lakes. Now I just got to get a ride up to Horseshoe Meadows on august 1st to do an end-around to catch the JMT and not have to deal with My Whitney.
Thanks for you information, Randy from Redondo Beach

Locale: Founder & Lead Moderator, https://www.facebook.com/groups/SierraNorthPCThikersI called up Crest today and the link you gave, Jim, is one year out of date. Crest is no longer under the County, it is independent now. Use this link and see current schedules.

(this is a shortcut url they've set up, the place the above gets you to is this):
