So I use an alcohol stove and while methanol and denatured alcohol is readily available the techniqe section advises against it. I want to know if I could get ethanol. Is it impossible to get a 90% non gas additive ethanol product or does it exist somewhere I am not looking?

The only place an ordinary person can get straight ethanol is if Everclear 190 proof (95% ethanol) is sold in liquor stores in your area. Its illegal in quite a few states. As a chemist, we get undenatured ethanol from the manufacturers for laboratory use but it still gets taxed like liquor.

Sunnyside "Denatured alcohol Solvent" is 85% ethanol, with some denaturing agents.

Many hardware stores carry it. My gallon cost $13
