Hi All,
My first post, great forum. I read in another thread that cleaning a silnylon tent with light laundry detergent is ok. How about a skunked tent? I have an (awesome) REI Quarterdome T3 that fits my wife, my dog, me, and some gear perfectly, but it got hit on 2 different sides by a super-angry skunk on the weekend. The rainfly went in a trash can however the tent shell, and footprint (and the tent shell's floor is silnylon too) copped a little. Will washing with a heavy laundry degreaser ruin my tent? Or should I buy as much Mirazyme as I can find and dunk the tent in a water+mirazyme bath overnight?
BTW, if this happens to you, try to de-funk it as much as you can and bring it home in a double or triple bag outfit. REI are telling if I'd saved the rainfly they would have simply given me a brand new Quarterdome T3 (which on hearing, frankly moved me to tears, having just dumped the rainfly in a trash can 100 miles away – so I'm pretty keen on saving what I can here).
Thanks in advance!
Nick
