Montrail Namche and similar boots

I beleave this LW boot by Montrail has been discontinued. You can find a fair selection of sizes on sale for $75.00 at Mountain Gear (go to mountaingear.com). They only have the Bombay Brown color.

I was disappointed to see the Namche boots relegated to the dustbin so quickly. As for similar products, you might want to take a look at the Chaco Canyonland Mid. I have no experience with them, but they do look interesting. If you're not in a hurry, there's an upcoming test series at BackpackGearTest.org.

For reviews of the Namche look on this site and also Trailspace.com. Also, Backpacker Gear Guide, 2007, named it the best fastpacking boot. I, too, was dismayed that Montrail was bought out by another company and all the non-goretex shoes were discontinued (it wasn't because the Namche was a loser boot0. I just ordered a backup pair from Mountaingear while they're still available, and they still have a good selection of sizes.

Zappos still has them at full price.

On BackpackGear Test site they have a review for a 2008 Montrail Hardrock Mid listed at $109.00 and Hardrock Mid GTX listed at $139.00. I have not seen these light weight boots anywhere for sale but Mountain Gear. This may be the 2008 replacement for the 07 Namche.

Hey, I just got a catalog from MountainGear.com in the mail today! They have Montrail Namche boots on sale for $74.98. Item #206361.

I wasn't aware that Montrail was bought out, nor that they are discontinuing their non-gortex shoes. Does this apply to only boot or all shoes?

My normal hikers are Montrail Hardrocks (non-gortex)low tops. I need to stock up if that is being discontinued!

In winter I use Montrail Mid Comp which is gortex, but that's what I want in the winter.

I feel in love with these boots, Sorry I have to go and order a backup pair online. Or maybe even 2 pair.

You can get them for 50 bucks from http://www.sportsmansguide.com if your ok with the celery color, sizes 8 – 13 mens. Reseller Ratings on them are a mixed bag, my brother never had an issue with them though.

Thom! Good eyes. It does indeed look like they replaced them with the Hardrock Mid. After all, the Namche's were just hardrocks but higher. They look to be a sweet improvement too. Got rid of the fine wire mesh on the outside (which wasn't durable). I'm excited. Too bad I just bought a new pair of Namche's on steepandcheap last week. Now I have montrails to last me through the summer.

The Hardrock Mids appear to be Namches with a gore liner. I have a review of the Namches posted here noting their comfort and a very strong suggestion to add lacing hooks for the top two lace points. It appears that Montrail reads reviews and added some of the features most requested from the Namches. This is good news.
