Hey friends,
Last week I did some day hiking in the Grand Canyon, and on the last day I was on trail for about 8 hours in conditions that were pretty much ideal proving grounds for this windshirt and soft shell pant.
I took the South Kaibab trail from the rim to the river and back again. Conditions on the downhill were moderate, probably low 60s with intermittent wind exposure.
We hit the river around noon and the weather down there–75* F and sunny–was perfect for swimming for a short time. A winter storm surprised us as soon as we started ascending, and this is really where these two pieces shined. The temperature dropped 30 degrees into the low 40s, and all the way up we were blasted by cold wind, patchy drizzle, and snow flurries. Just a typical late May day!
Anyway, I'll be posting reviews of these two pieces in the Reader Review section a little later, but I just wanted to tell you all how impressed I was by both of them. The contour pants were especially impressive given their low cost and weight for soft shell pants. And since they're made with Cordura I expect them to last quite a while. Both pieces are definitely worth looking into.
