If wearing an Everest-rated down suit, yes.
Absent any more information about your clothing …
My clothing would be a first layer, fleece, lightweight down jacket (about 13 ozs.), rain suit and I would also be in a water resistant bivy sack. I also would be on a foam pad. Would these clothese be enough?
thks for esponding earlier
No.
Try adding down or synthetic pants and you might get closer. Less than an inch of insulation over your legs just isn't going to cut it.
Ryan Jordan is not comfortable down to 20 degrees in a 180 quilt with both Cocoon Pants and Hoody combo. That's why a 240 quilt is coming out this summer.
Do you know when the 240 quilt will be available? My trek starts 8/1/08. With a 240 and the clothes I listed, would I then be warm enough?
Last time Ryan posted info it was expected in June. I'd first wait for a review of it. It will likely be quite bulky. You may be able to get away with using the 180 quilt IF your down jacket is thick enough and IF your fleece layer includes fleece pants. You'd want to test your system out first before the trip, which may be hard to do in summer (not cold enough). Only you will know if you are warm enough, but the 240 quilt should get you down to 20 with a down jacket and bivy.
Ken – You may want to check the MLD 7.5oz Climashield quilt at http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com
The MLD 7.5oz Climashield is a very good recommendation; I believe that is the same weight as the Cocoon 240, so these should be very, very similar quilts. Though the wait time for ordering is so long right now that you may see the Cocoon 240 before you see the MLD Climashield!
