I just got a shorter air mattress (Pacific Outdoors Ether Thermo) and need something to suppliment it for leg warmth. (and I don't really want to use my pack for this purpose)

Anyone use a Gossamer Gear ThinLight sleeping pad for their legs? Is it warm enough? What thickness (1/8, 1/4, or 3/8 inch) would your recommend for temps down to 32F?

Also, how easy is it to lay the ThinLights flat after they have been rolled up? Generic blue pads can stubborly want to remain in a rolled shape…

Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I bought a 60" long 1/8" thinlight in a successful attempt to prove that I want more padding than that. Afterwards I cut it in half then joined the pieces with duct tape, making it easy to fold it into a 30" 1/4" pad. Carried on the outside of my pack it is a ready sit pad or can be unfolded to lie on for an after lunch nap. Folded, it goes under my lower legs at night during shoulder season.

It's warm enough at 32F in the fall (warm ground). I'm not sure about 32F in late winter (frozen ground), haven't tried it.

It unrolls and lays flatter than blur foam or ridgerest … but still holds the curl a bit.

Hi Guys,

Im new to the forum, I just got back from a trip to the devil's path in the catskills and used a torso length z rest and the 1/8 in thinlight for the legs. duct taped it to the s rest and folded it flatwith it after. we got down to the 40's and my legs never got cold

enjoy

I've successfully used a 1/8 thinlight paired with a nightlight torso and my Golite Jam pack under my legs on the snow and was comfortable. In warmer weather I just use the nightlight.
