granite gear waistbelt sizing — accurate?

Ashley, I have several GG packs and I've found the hip belt sizing to be pretty much right on the money. THe only area that you need to be concerned about (as in the review that you pointed out) is if you're right on the border between sizes. Even then, I think both sizes stand a good chance of working.

Personally, I called GG directly and ordered two different size shoulder straps and the two different connector bar pieces that the shoulder straps screw into. It's a little unfortunate that more stores don't carry these bags, but I've found that it's worth taking the time to work with GG online and get a perfect fit dialed in. It may cost a bit more in shipping but it's more than worth it in my opinion.

Ashley, I've bought 4 GG packs, including a women's for a friend. The sizing has been as advertised on mine. Get the M belt.

Ashley, I agree that GG sizing is accurate. I wear a size large and the large belt fits me perfectly on my Nimbus Ozone. I once did try on a GG pack with a size medium belt and it was definitely too small.

I would go with their recommendations!

I am just about the same exact waist size as yours and I am using a size medium. It is tightened down almost as far as it can go on me but it is still in acceptable levels and there is still a little more belt left to tighten it.

I've just discovered that the waist measurement is in fact meant to be a hip measurement that goes around your hipbone (where your pack sits). So although my "waist" size for pants is around 32-33 inches, I've measured my hip circumference with a tape measure and it's actually around 35 inches. That makes me a "large" hipbelt (34-48 inches according to GG). I find that a little bit odd, because I'm a pretty slim build (6'1" and 162 pounds). Maybe I just have large hips =-

Anyway, I guess I won't really know until I just order one and try it. According to GG I'm a large… I have a sneaking suspicion I should be medium!!
