Is it a bad idea to use a down bag with a MYOG tyvek bivy? I would think the condensation would be bad for the bag. Should a synthetic fill only be used with a tyvek bivy?

    Help!

I expect you will need a vapor barrier with either insulation.

Can anyone here comment on VBL use in above freezing and milder conditions?

Vapor Barrier? Not exactly sure what that is.

It is an impermeable layer between your body (wet/vapor) and your insulation (dry). I think Western Mountaineering sells one, or you can go cheep and tape a couple trash bags together.

I still haven't tried this but it by no means a new idea.

Would this be necessary in the spring summer months? Or more a winter thing?

BBL is a bad idea above freezing, and quite unnecessary as well. It becomes useful some distance below freezing.
