I've read all the posts I could find about Montane sizing, but I'm looking for a little more help with choosing the right size for a Montane Smock. My wife is worried about buying one online because of the fit problems.
I tend to have problems with certain brands with regard to sizing because of my build. I'm 6'1", 155-160lbs. My torso is very long: 22", my chest is 32-33", my sleeve is 35", and my shoulders are 45"–wider than you might expect given the narrowness of my torso. In terms of fit, for tops: Icebreaker, Smartwool, OR, EMS, TNF all fit me great in Medium. REI sizing is ok for Medium, but a little short. The last Marmot I tried was ok in large. A lot of brands like Ex Officio, Patagonia, Cloudveil, and Nike just don't work for me with tops because mediums are too short on the torso, or on the sleeves, or too tight at the shoulder, and larges are too wide at the torso…
All that to say, could anyone who has experience with Montane, and maybe can cross reference to the sizing of other brands help? Based on what I've read, it seems that large would be a good size, but I'm not sure. If they fit like Icebreakers or OR, i.e. are a slim fit with long sleeves and for long torsos, possibly a Medium would be great.
What would be more helpful would be a chart like Helly Hansen's that has sleeve length and I would like torso length and shoulder width added too. Why don't manufacturer's tell us these things? Those sizing charts that all say medium, chest: 38-40, just don't help at all!
Thanks in advance.
