Ive been away from the backpackinglight community while I was off in college and am now looking to get some trips going, but I was looking for a sleeping bag that can do well in the 35F range sleeping in a tarptent for a superultralight backpacker. So if anyone can think of a sleeping bag in the 20 oz range for $100-250 range Id appreciate your reply.
I am selling two lightweight down sleeping bags (Montbell and Sierra designs). They are currently listed in the gear swap forum if you are interested.
I bought a Western Mountaineering Summerlite http://www.westernmountaineering.com/index.cfm?section=Products&page=Sleeping%20Bags&cat=ExtremeLite%20Series&viewpost=2&ContentId=69 last summer. Very nice bag. Rating = 32F. Pretty happy with it. Not cheap. :(
Like the full zipper. On warmer nights, I can lay it over me like a quilt and ventilate well. On cold nights, I zip it up and stay quite warm. Hasn't worked well in an open hammock in temps below ~45. Needs a little something to block wind.
Have you considered a quilt – more specifically a GoLite Ultra 20 or Jacks R Better Hudson River? Otherwise I think you are going to have a hard time meeting your weight/price requirements.
Quilts are fine, didnt mean to exclude them from my search.
