Besides sounding like a match-up between two Saturday morning super- hero's, I was wondering about performance differences between these two materials. Would they be suitable for a pair of light-duty (trail use, little to no bushwacking) hiking pants? Are there availability issues?
The Montane Featherlite Pants are made of Pertex Microlight so Quantum would probably be ok. I have a Rab Quantum Windtop and it seems pretty durable but i wouldn't bushwack with it.
I have made quilts from Momentum and love the fabric for that purpose but personally, I would be afraid to use if for hiking pants unless your area is totally void of vegetation and doesn't involve any form of climbing, scrambling, rocks, etc.
Read somewhere that both have similar breathability but that perhaps Momentum has a slightly better DWR? Both would be very thin and light for primary hiking pants. Would be more common as wind pants. But with care they would be durable as any sub-1oz nylon.
