The 12.3 oz is per shoe. Better hurry if you want GoLites as the rumor is that they're pulling the plug on their shoe line.
Lots of people here swear by the Innov8 shoes for lightweight performance.
I have Salomon XA Pro 3D's in both the Goretex XCR and unlined versions. Very light with good performance and durability. Most places have the XCR version on sale this time of year – REI will starting next weekend.
It has to be said I use a lightweight shoe for pretty much everything these days. I really like the more aggressively soles Innov8's for running and walking; I recently went on a very wintry/snowy 3 day backpacking trip in Scotland and used the Montrail Highlanders, which were great in a range of conditions from rock to deep snow to bog. Worn with a waterproof sock they were excellent.
I picked up the Merrell Overdrive Gore Tex recently quite happy with them. They have some subtle bit making them good for use with gaiters. Size is odd I would go into a store and find the right fit rather than order off the interweb.
