My uncle would like to buy a new lightweight pack. He wants to transition to lightweight backpacking. He will use the pack mostly on hut-to-hut (No camping) trips , but also occasionaly for shorter camping trips (Probably one week max.). My uncle is pretty tall, around 6 feet 5 inches. He also has some problems with his back from tÃme to time so he needs a comfortable pack that carries well.
He thinks he needs 50l of space (Even for trips without a shelter.).
Preferably he would also like his shorter wife to be able use the pack, so an adjustable pack would be good.
I'm not quite sure what to suggest to him, but I'm thinking that a Six Moon Designs Comet or Starlite could be a good choice. I think the Golite Jam2 would be to extreme since it requires more skill in packing to be useful. Gossamer Gear pack are also probably to extreme and too large, even though they have a virtual frame. The pack should be durable as well.
My guess is that the pack should be capable of carrying around 20-30 pounds comfortably.
