Didn't know where else to post this and didn't see a customer service department. I read in the forums awhile back that new Cocoon gear will be sold later this year using new insulation. Is there a forcast for an approximate date? Is there a plan to add to the sleeping line a Cocoon zip-up sleeping bag to provide an option to those who eschew the use of a quilt?

Hi John –
FYI, you can create customer support issues which are reviewed and assigned to BPL staff. Just go to My account (top of the page), then Manage My Support Issues (lower right of next page).
With regards to Cocoon in 2008. Yes, we will have a new line this year. Yes, we will switch to Climashield insulation. No, we don't have a specific date for release. Hopefully we've learned our lesson and won't predict a date too specifically. Suffice it to say that we are working hard to get them ASAP, but most likely late Summer or early Fall.
Sleeping bags? Not this year. But in the future? Maybe.
Don
Thank you Don for your kind and thorough reply. I thought about using the support option but for this I felt it was overkill but will use it if another question like this arises. Good news about the new Cocoon line but bad news that a sleeping bag is not in the immediate works. Thanks again.

4 months later, any developments? I've been out of the loop!
New Cocoon products are in development but are too far out to predict release dates. There are no plans to produce a typical zip-up sleeping bag at this time.
I've been wondering about this for a while – I think I read about Ryan using a prototype Climashield quilt on one of the WTS outings. Why the switch to Climashield? I know that loft retention over time and when wet were the big considerations when originally choosing Delta over Primaloft – has Climashield tested even better?
I think BPL should sponsor the breeding of geese that are afraid of water. Why? Hydrophobic down. :)
Edit: I found my answer to "why not delta" – it's been discontinued. But has there been or are there plans to conduct similar tests between the other two?
