Best Tarp Stakes?

Don't waste money on Ti. A good quality Alu V stake weighs in at 13g as does the equivalent sized Ti stake. The best V Alu stakes I've seen (in the UK) have been heat-treated and have a central reinforcing ridge – i.e they are not bent strips of metal.

Quantities count – so plan on 2 for the main guys as standard and maybe 4 – one on each corner if you are expecting wind. The remainder can be 6g Ti skewers.

I like the carbon fiber stakes at Titanium Goat.

They are the same weight as Ti wire, have more area, and are sturdy enough to drive with a rock.

I would also recommend ditching Ti. I have some standard hook Ti stakes and they pale in comparison to the easton tubular aluminum stakes. I only have one, but I use it for the most high stress point on my tarp when I pitch it. Mine is yellow and weighs 1/2 oz, but is super strong. it looks like they have some similar slightly smaller ones that weigh .35 oz each. I'm getting some whenever my little Ti ones get too bent. If you want to continue to use webbing though, they wouldn't work :(

Agreed. If you want the best tarp stakes, it's all about the shaped aluminum stakes. I use MSR groundhog for the corners, and a mixtre of nail stakes and shepards hook stakes for the side guy outs only. I also try to get the main ridge lines tied onto two trees, but often I'm just tying to one tree and staking out the other ridgeline tie out.

I tend to stick to just 6g Ti Skewers for the bulk of things and 13g Ti or 13g Alu V stakes for key guylines and stress points.

Ti pegs come in stealth grey only and are easy to lose but they are worth the weight saving since they are both stronger and lighter than Alu skewers.
