OK – I need a new pair of lightweight, moderately resistant rain pants. I have used the Rainshield O2 ones before but keep on ripping holes into them, which makes me think that they are not the best way to go. I am too poor for eVent right now, so what is left? Sierra Designs Isotope ($75,4.5oz) as a compromise (not sure how breathable they are and if it is less of a problem with legs)? Any other ideas?

Golite Reeds
I have a set of Medium Marmot PreCip pants with the ankle zip that I'd let go cheap. In new condition, I bought some moonstone paclite ones with full zips, and despite the weight, prefer them as I'm a climber.
The ankle zip Marmots would be perfect for backpcking though, their pretty light in weight. In fact I'm tempted to keep them too.

I have a pair of golite reeds. Very nice and quite breathable.
I suspect that mld is using the same fabric in their rainpants. Might be an option

I've not had any problems with the Reeds so far. They are crazy light, got an ankle zip, pretty breathable and pack down to a tiny size. They seem fairly durable but I don't think I would want to do days of bushwacking in them.
Thanks for the input! I just ordered a pair of 66 North Iceland Glymur pants which are made of 3 layer eVent. I have their Blafell pants which are heavier and lined at 14oz, so I am hoping that those will come in around 10oz. Not quite as light as other eVent pants but then again I can't complain for a price of $125.
