Waterproof Custom Maps?

Maybe you should try a different brand of waterproof paper. I use igage paper. You get twice as much of it for the same price as Adventure paper. I have noticed that the colors aren't as bright as with the Adventure paper, but for half the price I can live with that. I use an HP printer, print on both sides, and I haven't experienced problems with bleeding so far.

I use the Rite in the Rain stuff exclusively. If you can find access to a laser printer I totally recommend getting the laser rite in the rain paper – it's the most economical type of waterproof paper and laser is pretty much smudge proof by nature.

If weather resistant will work for you thompson's water sealer can be applied as a cheaper alternative for large batches.

How about laminating the paper? I just laminated a section of glacier for an upcoming summer trip. I folded the map into fourths and put it under a heavy book now I have a water proof map, that weighs 15g(as opposed to 96g), and fits great in a pocket. It is also easier to handle than my $10 N.G. map.
