I have just tried my new Caldera Cone along with my Snowpeak 600 mug, both of which were purchased on the Swap. Both great items. The system certainly boils quickly without using a lot of fuel. The only problem I see with it is the the fact that the handles on the mug get very hot, to hot to handle without a rag etc. Am I doing something wrong or should I wind some string on the handles?

I put my hand into a sock or glove before grabbing the hot mug. I just picked up a Caldera Cone for my SP900. I think I'll be getting one for the 600ml mug too!
Fold the handles out/away from each other, so the heat rises between between them, not directly onto them.
I wrapped my FireLIte Titanium 550-SUL handles in a thin layer of 3M glass cloth tape. Keeps them cool to the touch and won't burn unless it's placed directly in a flame for an extended time.

Would you have a 3M part number for that? Where did you buy it? It sounds like a worthwhile purchase. I'd be interested in getting some of it so I don't have to risk getting a sock or glove wet.

I used 3/4" #69 tape (356F rated), but there are higher temperature rated tapes, too. I bought it at a local contractor type store.
Maybe this is a little off the thread subject, but doesn't packing the cone subject it to a lot of damage? How do you keep from completely mutilating the thing in your pack?
