I'm trying to decide between the Integral Designs Bugaboo bivy and the Micro Bivy. Anyone have any experience with these two bivys? How do they compare in size? The size charts don't really compare apples to apples. The bugaboo is plenty big for what I need (to put a pad and winter bag inside) but I haven't seen the Micro in person. Is there enough room in the micro for a pad?

They're on sale at REI (along with all their ID stuff:)

I've got the ID all e-vent bivvy bag which i think is the same dimensions as the micro? I can fit a pad and winter bag in no problem. I'm 5'10" and 175lbs. I usually keep the pad on the outside though as i like to toss and turn during the night.

I have an ID Crysallis which I am very happy with. I used the girths given by ID to make my decision. In my view their girths are correct and if you have a bivy already the girth will inform your decision.

The Crysallis gives me enough room for a Thermarest Prolite 4 and a Nunatak quilt. As an aside the girth of the crysallis is similar to those of the micro bivy. Hope this helps

I have an ID Bugaboo Bivy. It is large enough (oversized actually) for a pad, winter bag, and my 6'4" & 250 lb self. I modified mine by removing the stiffening wire (not present on the Micro) and by sewing in a large swath of noseeum netting in place of the tiny bug netting window.

You've now got me thinking that an ID Micro Bivy might work for me. I'm going to pull mine out and take some measurements. No netting in the Micro that I can tell, but it would be easy to add to the lower edge of the upper hood part.

Complete dimensions are hard to come by for these two, but I find the following to be accurate:

Micro Bivy
Length: 88" fits to 6'6"
Girth: 72” chest, 64” hip, 52” foot

Bugaboo Bivy
Length: 90" fits to 6'6"+
Girth: 78" chest, 70" hip, 58" foot

NOTE TO ALL INTERNET RETAILERS: Complete and accurate dimensions and descriptions are critical to moving product. If I can't figure out what size, weight , or color it is I won't order it.
