I am going on a four day camping/hiking trip in june. this is my first trip! I have purchased a Camelbak Kronos pack and i love it! my only problem is that i really don't know how to pack it. Also, my sleeping bag is a fairly heavy Army surplus mummy bag (please don't tell me to get a new one, i can't afford it…someday though!) how do i attatch that darn bag without it it moving all around?

Sorry, not answering your question directly, but I think many of us prefer packing our sleeping bags inside our packs — the better to protect from getting wet, dirty, ripped…
Can you attach your sleeping pad and/or tent outside instead? Get some straps and strap either or both to the "daisy chains" on the front of your pack.
Alex,
I searched Camelback's site for your Kronos pack and couldn't find it. True, Camelback does make full sized backpacks for extended trips. If your Kronos IS that large just put your sleeping bag inside at the bottom. But if you can't do it then
1.Get a good lightweight, waterproof stuff sack with a roll top that your sleeping bag WILL fit into. This 1st bag is VERY important as it garantees your sleeping bag will remain dry, even in an all day soaker rain.
2.Then get a tougher outer stuff sack to protect the dri- sack.
3. Buy 3/4" webbing W/ Fastex-type plastic quick release buckles and attatch the sleeping bag stuff sack to your pack bottom or front.
I have to do that with my Mt'n. Hardwear winter (-20F)synthetic bag on my Dana Terraplane pack. Fortunately my pack has built in straps for that purpose. You can make yor straps captive, permanent straps by having an awning company or shoe repair shop sew them on your pack bottom.
