Not that I don't think they work, but I think carrying one is pointless.
There is an incredibly remote chance, probably infinitesimal actually, that I'd ever need it. There's only so far I'm willing to go in planning for worst case scenarios; getting too wrapped up in that sort of thinking leads to too much dead weight in the pack.
