There are two or three umbrellas on the market with a reflective, metallic canopy to improve performance under intense sunlight, Golite's "Chrome Dome" being perhaps the best known. Have any of you tried one of these on a long trip or over an extended period? I'm interested to know how the material stands up over time, especially under typical camping and hiking conditions, but reviews seem thin on the ground.
I've owned a Chrome Dome for 2 years, and it is very durable. Holds up in strong wind, and the aluminum coating is all intact. Definitely keeps me much cooler in the summer.
Thanks for that. I have one of the original style (non-reflective) Domes, which I like very much even though it took an awful lot of work to make it waterproof!
