While searching for eVent jackets I found the above link with a short video on the new Westcomb Specter Jacket and Anorak. Looks like the sweetspot of features and weight for an Event shell. I don't like the goofy fit of the Integral Designs offerings and these look to be a more supple fabric with an adjustable hood. The full zip should be available at backcountry.com on the 24th of march. The anorak is not yet listed on the Westcomb site.

I just ordered a Montbell Peak shell on sale from Prolite gear ($159). Would be interesting to see a direct comparison of the breathability of the two fabrics. Anyone tried both a Peak shell and an Event jacket?

Wow, less than 10 oz! It looks like westcomb is picking up where arc teryx left off in terms of innovation.

Several years ago I compared the Peak to an older (and heavier material) eVENT jacket. eVENT breathed better, but I was better able to manage moisture (actually it was more about managing heat) thanks to the Peak's pitzips. If the eVENT jacket was made from a lighter material and/or had pitzips, I expect that eVENT jacket would have been my choice instead of the Peak. eVENT is good stuff.
