Any ideas for a UL 4 oz bottle to store olive oil in while hiking? I've got some 8 oz Dasani bottles that are nearly good enough, but I'd prefer something smaller. I've considered an old container that used to hold spices like Oregano, but don't really trust the few threads that hold the cap on. The 4 oz nalgene bottles everywhere seem too thick and overkill (plus I don't want to drive 30 min to REI for a bottle!).

There may be something you use frequently such as mouthwash or soap or shampoo that comes in the size bottle you are looking for. I find for carrying olive oil it is nice to have a folding spout built into the cap. I would think using a water bottle (or similar) and unscrewing the cap to pour the olive oil would leave me with a sticky, oily bottle to deal with.

http://www.traildivas.com/diy/make-your-bottles-leak-resistant.htmlReally easy to do :-) (Well, if you have the tape!)
I use a 4 ounce hard side clear Lexan bottle I got at REI a long time ago to haul my oil, but when it dies I will just go to using the small 4 ounce "accessory and fuel" bottles I sell. With the tape on them they work like a charm for sunblock.

I presume you're talking about these: Clear Square Containers? I'm partial to these: HDPE Screw-Top Bottles.
Also, if you order direct from Nalgene I believe you get free shipping (so don't have to drive to REI).
Victor,
Those rumrunners are interesting. Is there anything functional about the spout being on the corner beyond 'it's different / cool'?

I do still carry it in a snack sized bag just in case it ever leaks ;-)Mar 14, 2008 at 8:55 am #1424319"I do still carry it in a snack sized bag just in case it ever leaks ;-)"
Tell me you have at least SOMETHING else in that bag… Nalgene's don't leak and carrying an extra, what, 1/10th of an ounce(?) is HERESY!!!! ;)
