Lightest Vapour Barrier Clothing

If you are not going to make your own from cuben, spinnaker, etc, you could buy the silnylon rain suit from antigravity gear. It may be baggy though.

Keep in mind that "lightest" isn't always the best. I found the rhdesigns material more comfortable against the skin than sil-nylon, or a coolmax liner + sil-nylon. Of course, your experiences might be different. I might be more sensitive than many people… I REALLY hate feeling clammy.

I'd go with Rab or Stephensons, but the stated weights are pretty high. My VBL is 5.5 oz and I was hoping to barely increase that, if at all.
John, can you post a link to the rainsuit – I can't seem to locate it.

Mark, I usually throw on a light base layer before getting into my VBL. I know that rhb and Stephensons have liners of some sort on the inside of their gear. Would you consider this "liner" to be equivalent to a light base layer?

You also might want to check out Stevensan's Warmlite (warmlite.net) as they have always been strong advocates of VB clothing.

Another thought for at least a silnylon top is the equinox rain jacket. It’s probably too heavy at nearly 7 ounces.

A mylar space blanket or garbage bags could me made into lightweight vbl too.

I can't see the Stevenson's stuff coming right on the 5.5 for the VBL. The socks I have from them weigh 2.8 are like a Cap 2

I investigated making vapor barrier clothing a couple months ago but never got around to it. I think the best option would to be order the Liberty Ridge shell and pants kit from thru-hiker in silnylon. I emailed ayce and he said the material switch would not be a problem as long as you told him in the order.

Just a little clarification…do you mean you have the Stephensons VB Socks with the "fuzzy stuff" inside and it is like cap2? This is good news as I could then leave my base layer at home and perhaps gain minimal weight.
