While engaged in lively discourse on the finer points of UL camp thongs Steve Evans offered a sandal clad foot and ankle photo that suggested a beautiful piece of art running further and unseen up his leg.

This photograph was an epiphany for me. Though I lack the courage myself to adorn my limited lifetime supply of "canvas" thusly, I know that many others have summoned the cojones (or ovaries) to adorn their skin with artful tat work (tattoos).

As trail gourmands carry chili powder and hot sauce to punctuate the sometimes dull cuisine common to much camp fare; so could tattoos at absolutely no weight penalty brighten the occasional monotony of the trail and camp life.

Any ultralighters care to share pics of their personal mobile art?

…that I had a tattoo design that spoke to me, but I'm an artist so my tastes shift too much. Here's a piece I did design for a friend:

If I were to get a tattoo, it'd be something handy in the outdoors…like a Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion chart! Or get reflective ink and make a rescue mirror tattoo! :-p
