I've read rumors that Polarguard will be phased out because Western Nonwovens (makers of Climashield) will no longer supply them with continuous filament material.

I have noticed products switching to Climashield (NF Cat's Meow and Pata Micropuff fro ex.) from PG Delta.

Does anyone know the real deal on this?

I find it hard to believe that only WNI makes CF polyester insulation.

I believe many of the gear manufacturers are switching because Climashield is warmer per ounce (higher CLO value) than Polarguard Delta AND has better durability after compression since it's fibers aren't as hollow.

I'd be willing bet that Polarguard has (or will soon) come up with something new to compete with Climashield HL and that is why it looks like it's being phased out.

As I understand it Polarguard is being phased out, as has been discussed here in the past. Western nonwovens is the maker of both polarguard and climashield. Essentially climashield is the higher performance replacement for polarguard.
