Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Golite Jam2 pack, and I absolutely love it, but I have a question about it. Just above the top set of side compression straps are two miniature elastic cords attached to small black hooks on the front of the pack. I can't for the life of me figure out how to use these or what their function is. The elastic cord doesn't stretch between them, so it isn't for cinching together the top of the bag (at least that is my opinion). If anyone has any idea what these are for, please let me know!

Thanks,
cameron.

The elastic cords are the upper attachment system for carrying ice axes.

I use them to lash my trekking poles to the bag when I'm on a paved path. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of them.

Thanks so much for the answer!

Yea, I was considering cutting them off for a little weight saving.

I thought they were for converting into a daypack via the "compaktor system"???

From GoLite's site..
"The comPACKtor system makes your GoLite pack far more versatile by enabling you to reduce your pack's volume through the use of two fixed compression anchor clips. How to use: with the pack empty, simply connect the two fixed compression anchor clips. Instantly, your pack volume and profile is smaller for shorter duration trips"

However, I'm not sure if I am doing it correctly.

I just cut them off. I found them useless. I also removed the hydration bladder pocket and the foam padding along with its pocket. I saved considerable weight on my Jam2.
