whats the “widest” bivy available for under $100?

The widest bivy I've seen for this price would be the Ptarmigan bivy by Titanium Goat. http://www.titaniumgoat.com/Bivy.html . I ordered one a week or so back, made some custom requests, and hope to receive in by the end of the week. I'll write a short review at that time. At 90.00 for the standard version, it is wider than the BPL and MLD bivies, pretty cheap in general, great quality, and ultralight with the best of them.

well, the full bugnet isn't really 'custom'. I now wish that I would have requested that they make the headnet fully removable, because I foresee it being an hassle when not in use and tucked inside the bivy under a pillow. Damn.

But, I did request that they make it side-zip entry for me. This will make getting into and out of the bivy much more enjoyable over an upcoming 5 month hike.

Once the bivy arrives, hopefully the weather will be chilly here in GA to take it into 30 deg to test this out. After a couple nights out back with it, I'll post a short review. Then at the end of the month I'm planning a 4 day loop in northern GA, which will probably cause me to write a bit more on it.
