I'm torn between the HS Tarptent Contrail and the SMD Lunar Solo E and I was wondering if anyone had opinions on the lightweight vs standard weight floor of the SMD. It seems like the lightweight floor is the same as the Contrail floor so is there any reason to go with the heavier duty floor or should I just save the 3 ounces or so if I go with the SMD? Thanks

One consideration: if you normally use a groundsheet to help protect your tent floor and to keep it cleaner and drier, then the UL tent floor should suffice.

I have one with the UL floor. It seems just fine to me…I wouldn't sleep on a pile of broken branches, but I think it will hold up just fine. My $.02 FWIW.

The LW floor has held up perfectly for me and has a lot of nights on it. As long as you are appropriately wise with how you use your UL gear and check out where you place it, it should last for years.
