I'm just wondering where any fellow Canadians find denatured alcohol in Canada. I have only been able to find Methyl Hydrate which I understand is much more poisonous and the fumes are not so good either. I've looking at four different hardware stores and two pharmacies and this is starting to drive me crazy. What do you guys and girls use in your stoves here? Is ethanol that scarce a resource?
Go to a Shoppers Drugmart.
They have 95% ethanol, look where the rubbibg alcohol is. Unfortunately it burns with some soot formation. I usually add methanol to the 95% ethanol to remove the soot factor. 3 parts ethanol to 1 part methanol. not perfect but less hazadous fumes when burning.
Ethanol (denatured) is banned in Canada as a safety concern. Methanol is not banned.

Seriously weird that this is such a problem when it seems like such a given down in the States. I can't believe with the popularity of alcohol stoves that this hasn't come up before by someone else in Canada…..
