I just recieved this retangular hoodless bivy. The top is some sort of two layer laminate called Storm Tech. I dont have a scale but it seems "heavy" for what it is. Equinox also makes a similar cover that is listed as having a "breathable" top. Has anyone used either of these bivys? Is the "breathable" version signifigantly lighter? It seems that a lighter and less "waterproof" bivy would be appropriate for use with a poncho. The Storm Tech cover is lighter and more compact than my old moonstone bivy but way less storm/bomb proof. Im not sure where this new bivy "fits" into my gear system. Im a big guy and need a lot of "girth" to keep from compressing the insulation In my bag and clothing. I havent found any other bags that are as wide and well under $100. Suggestions? thanks, Woody

Is the Equinox Storm Tech sleeping bag cover overkill for use with a poncho/tarp?
