What is the difference between Vargo’s Triad and Triad XE stoves?
They are of similar weight and cost, and both burn alcohol or Esbit tablets. The Triad XE has a “cup” for tablets; the Triad just has a flat surface. The Triad XE says it can only simmer water with alcohol.
So, unless the cup works better for Esbit tablets (not stated in BPL’s catalog), or unless there’s another issue not mentioned, then the original Triad, which can boil water, seems best (unless you simmer).
