Patagonia's site lists both the Capilene 1 and 2 as both weighing 5.5oz which is obviously wrong. Can anyone tell me the weight of the Capilene 2 in size large?

That is surprising. Are the Capilene 2's that much thicker and warmer than the 1's?

The weights on the patagonia’s website are accurate. I have both a cap 1 and cap 2 t-shirt and they both weigh 4.5 oz on my scale. Cap 1 actually has more threads in the knit than cap 2 does. That’s why cap 1 cost a little more too.

Here’s another thread where you can get a visual of the difference:

Cap 1 or Cap 2?

Edit:

Not much thicker. More like a mesh, but not see-thru mesh. When worn alone it breaths very well which helps keep you cooler. If you throw a wind shirt over it, it does a great job at trapping warm air next to your skin. A good for a wide range of temps. Works best with a close fit. On a side note the gladiodor isn’t really noticeable.
