I was just browsing BP magazines gear guide (yes I subscribe, and I like it!), and there is mention in the tent manufacturers section of a new HS Tarptent called the Sublight. A single wall 1 pound tent!!
Anyone have any info on this? Pics, more stats, etc? If it is anything like the Contrail, but with less weight, it should be a winner. The magazine says it is a modified A frame, so I'm thinking a smaller Contrail maybe. 1 pound, single wall with ventilation and bug netting and 8.5 square foot vestibule is darned appealing!
Montbell also has 2 new tents coming. The Crescent 1 and 2. Hopefully these are comparable to the Diamond and Hexagon in regards to being double wall, easy setup and really light. The printed weights for both are 2.1 and 2.12 pounds for the 1 and 2 person models. It also looks like there is vestibules on these tents finally! If these tents are real, then the Crescent 1 person tent will be my go to tent for normal weekends and 4 season hiking.
MSR also has a couple of new tarps that look interesting: E Wing.
Thoughts or info anyone?
