Another lesser know trip on the South Island…
A Beautiful climb through mixed temperate rainforests, well tracked and shady. Eventually you run out of forest and the rest of the trip is on open tussock.

Then it's just a matter of following the poles…

The you drop off the ridge a little and amble down to a very cute but basic hut. It has room for four, and was really quite comfortable.

Then it's just a walk following down the river and you eventually end up back at your car, having done a charming 2 day loop. The drive from Christchurch is kinda long, but even the drive takes you through some great scenery. Here was Lewis Pass on the drive home
