Gear for Tall Individuals

I'm 6'5" and 210 lbs, so I have the same problem. As you said, buying gear that's sized "tall" helps. I seem to find tall sized items easily at Sierra Trading Post, sometimes Campmor. One thing you may want to check out is bicycling gear. For shirts and jackets they usually make them longer in the back to handle the hunched over position of a cyclist.

I am a big fan of Cabela's. I hike in their Guidewear Zip Off pants, and they offer a great deal of clothing in tall sizes.

I'm only 6'1" but shoulder to shoulder with my 5'11" roommate his fingertips stop at my wrist. =/

I would look into Marmot. I am 6'5" and weigh about 230lbs. I find that a lot of the Marmot jackets have a longer cut to them. Definately not Mountain Hardwear as their stuff is made for shorter than average people. I wear a size 14-15 so that makes it evn harder for boots/shoes. For rain gear check out the DriDucks stuff as it tends to run pretty big. Forget about a lot of that really lightweight gear as there will only be a few possibilities in your size.

For a hardshell look at Kayaking jackets, they are WAY big to allow for ease of movement.
