Vapor Mitts

I use them with my Ibex wool loner gloves and my hands never get cold. In fact I have to take them off every now and again to vent out the heat. It is truely amazing how warm these things are for their miniscule weight. As long as your gloves are realativly thin and do not have a wind barrier built in, they should work fine.

Johnathan, since you own them, can I ask you a question?
What sort of insulation do they use? I read the product page for these probably three times and all I got out of it is that the insulation is some sort of fleece and that it's "enough to keep you warm and that's all you need to know!" or some such nebulous statement. Is it a sort of really thick fleece or something? I have a hard time imagining that 4 ounces of fleece would be good enough for winter mitts, given VB technology or not…but I've been wrong in the past.

For thin, windproof gloves, check out the OR Airfoil gloves. I've had my eye on these for a while, but have yet to find one in a store, unfortunately, so I can't say just how thin they are. Looking at the pics on Backpackgeartest.org, and they do look about as thin as my OR power stretch liner gloves, though.

These appear to be exactly the same as the readily available Manzella Silkweight Windstopper gloves, also reviewed by staff here at bpl.

Why no wind barrier will that defeat the VBL effect of the mitts?

Do you carry a 3rd pair of gloves or do your Ibex liners hold up when the mitts are not being used?

I would like a liner glove that has some sort of reinforced grip. My go to gloves have been my OR Vert gloves, but I fear these may be to thick? They are Schoeller Dynamic but have a fairly beefy leather palm and fingers.

I like those AirFoil gloves but I wonder if they have the low breath ability liner?
