Has anybody tried the Atsko Permanent Water Guard DWR? I couldn’t find anything on a forum search. If the claims are true (good for 25 washes) it looks like a great DWR. Do you know how many garments the aerosol can treats?

Also, has anyone tried the Scotchgard Outdoor DWR? Is it fluorocarbon or silicone? How does it hold up? I ask because it’s about $5 at Walmart. While I’m on the topic, any definitive answers as to whether silicone based DWR is good for waterproof/breathable fabrics (I’ve seen contradictory information).

Reviewed at backpackgeartest.org in a full Test. Very good stuff, works well, sticks well. Fluoropolymer. But use the Atsko Sports Wash with it. I think this is mentioned in the reports.

I believe this is silicone. All silicones rub of fairly easily.

Not a simple question.
IF the W/B fabric has a fluoropolymer DWR coating, and most of them do, then the silicone treatment will NOT stick to it. It will rub off, or wash off, very quickly. Failure.
But once you have used a silicone spray on something, fluoropolymer sprays won't stick either.
So you can really stuff things up by using the wrong spray!

cheers
