My next project is going to be an insulated jacket, potentially followed by insulated pants and a quilt.
I expect the answer to my question is no, but is there any chance of finding the types of insulation I am looking for (primaloft etc) in a quilting type store? I think they generally use cotton, but what do I know.
If not quilting stores, are there other sources I should consider? I am only trying to save money if possible, and would order from owfinc or quest if something isnt obviously cheaper.
    Thanks for the help!

http://www.thru-hiker.com you can get one of several kit/patterns for insulated jackets or vests, plus the excellent Liberty Ridge shell jacket and pants kit/patterns. The Liberty Ridge pants pattern can be tweaked into insulated pants as well.

I will be purchasing insulation online. My options, as I see them are:
    Primaloft Sport Insulation 1.8 oz/sq yd ($7.45 thru-hiker)
    Climashield XP 2.5 oz/sq yd ($8.95 thru-hiker)
    Climashield Polyester Continuous Filament 2.0 oz/sq yd ($8.95 owfinc.com)
    Thinsulate 3M No. 40-Light Weight ($4.91 owfinc)

Any comments on these? I will be using it for a light insulated jacket.
I dont know if Primaloft Sport is differient than PL1, and owfinc says that the Thinsulate is very "down-like" and would be a very good choice…
