Big Pot Survey

I think the AGG 2L is as good as it gets. I also own an MSR 2L titanium pot, and that is my Big Pot of choice, but it's more expensive. The reasons I prefer the MSR are it's NOT coated and therefore if/when I burn a meal I can clean it back to almost new, and it is wider which makes stirring to avoid burning easier.

My newest favorite stove system is the Caldera Cone, and at the moment they only make it for the AGG 2L pot, so I have (for now) moved back to this pot. That may change in the future, but that's really the only two pots I know of in the running. You could add a wire bail to either of these if you wanted to…

I also have the AGG 2 quart pot for winter snow melting and like it. Can't beat it for the price. Here's a secret: Open Country is the company that makes the pots for AGG and they have their own version WITH a bail AND without a coating! I've seen them in sporting goods stores, army surplus stores, and I think even at REI. It will be silver, not black in color and, as I remember, they're a little cheaper than the AGG ones.

Mr. Klass, you have outdone yourself! Not only does the OC version have a bail, it is 3 bucks cheaper…and I'm cheap…so it works for me!

I'm with Allison re. the MSR 2l Titanium pot. No coating is one of my prime requirements.

Well, my Jetboil 1.5 L pot may not meet your qualifications for "big" but it is by far the most efficient 1.5 L pot I've owned or used. The Jetboil corrugated "FluxRing" at the bottom really does capture a lot of heat, especially considering its small weight addition to the pot.
